Ensemble William Maurer :
Founded by William Maurer, Romain Dansac and Catharina Mangane in 2023, the Ensemble William Maurer stands out for its hybridity. It is a music-theatre ensemble that brings together musicians, instrumentalists and singers, from experienced amateurs to professionals, as well as a theatre company.
Dedicated to helping the general public (re)discover little-known or unknown works, whether forgotten musical/theatrical pieces from the repertoire or original creations, the ensemble oscillates between tradition and modernity. The ensemble’s approach is based on scholarship, experimentation, creativity and high standards, but above all on sharing a common musical and theatrical heritage, both past and present.
Since September 2025, David NG has been the ensemble’s musical director, and the theatrical department is working on the creation of “Le Monde de Gigi”, a comedy in three acts and verse by William Maurer, scheduled to be performed in Toulouse on 4 July 2026 at the Chapelle des Carmélites.
Babel Canto :
Babel Canto is an eclectic vocal ensemble from Toulouse. Directed by David NG, it is made up of 9 semi-professional singers with a passion for a cappella singing.
Driven by a dynamic of high musical standards and a love of languages (as the reference to “Babel” suggests), the ensemble builds its identity on the diversity of its repertoire, paying tribute to the traditional songs of Europe (France, Italy, Ireland, England, etc.), Latin America and the United States (Traditional, Barber Shops, Gospels…) to name but the main ones.
But the choir is open to all eras and musical styles: from the Renaissance (Clément Janequin) to the present day (Queen, Cohen, Glover, Disney…), via Romantic music (Brahms, Bruckner…).
