The “Caune de l’Arago” prehistoric site in the commune of Tautavel is located in a vast cavity overlooking the Verdouble stream. It has yielded numerous human remains, attributed to Tautavel Man, the European Homo-Erectus, and lithic remains from the Lower Palaeolithic.
