TOULOUSE
Berlioz drew inspiration from the British writer Lord Byron to compose his symphony *Harold in Italy*, featuring the viola as the leading instrument. Elgar, for his part, sketches portraits of his loved ones in the famous Enigma Variations, including ‘Nimrod’, which has almost become a national anthem across the Channel, where it accompanies numerous cultural and sporting events. The young English conductor Adam Hickox joins forces with violist Antoine Tamestit: a triumphant return to Toulouse for this internationally renowned performer, who cut his teeth in the viola section of the Orchestre National du Capitole.
