‘Agde: photographs from the past, perspectives from the present’

AGDE

Description

How can one capture the passage of time as landscapes shift, the city transforms, and even its inhabitants change?
The Agde Municipal Archives invite visitors on a journey through time in Agde, bringing old photographs back to life and re-photographing, in 2026, the exact angles that photographers captured at different periods.

This exhibition is also an opportunity to shine a light on the pioneers of photography, those who, in the 19th century, decided to embrace this new form of artistic expression.
Settling here from the 1860s onwards, they helped to preserve the memory of Agde and its inhabitants.
Whether photographs of anonymous people or unchanging landscapes, they tell, in their own way, the story of our beautiful town, its neighbourhoods and its inhabitants.
