TOULOUSE
This exhibition explores the passage of time, children’s favourite places and their games, capturing moments of life and bodily expression in this unique environment.
This project, conceived as a shared art form, was carried out with twenty-four children placed by the children’s social welfare agency in a children’s social care home in the Gers department. It was exhibited for the first time in Summer 2025 at the art and photography centre in Lectoure.
Combining poetic and political questioning, Anne Desplantez’s photographic and visual research work aims to develop an abundant, fragmented and non-reductive vision of the human experience of being together.
“Because. Ici” bears the imprint of this collaborative synergy, blending the individualities of each of the children into a collective harmony. The result is a work rich in meaning and diversity. The children enter into a concrete form of resistance by exposing themselves in this way, without pretense, but with great modesty, and the project can then take the form of a more political message, about knowing how to be together in a society that often marginalises and sometimes isolates, questioning the limits of a system originally set up to protect our children until they come of age, a system that is running out of steam and is exhausted by being forgotten.
