BEZIERS
From the end of the 11th century, the Trencavel family held the title of Viscounts of Béziers. Their lineage, from Bernard Aton IV and Raimond Trencavel to Roger II, then briefly Raimond Trencavel, last viscount (1060-1209), marked the history of the viscounty. The recent publication of the Trencavel cartulary (Paris, CTHS, 2025) provides an opportunity to revisit this dynasty and its close ties with the city of Béziers.
The presentation is given by Hélène Debax, Professor of Medieval History at Toulouse ? Jean-Jaurès, member of the Traces laboratory (UMR 5608), in partnership with the Société Archéologique, Scientifique et Littéraire de Béziers.
