AGDE
Exhibition dedicated to the renowned composer Ravel and his essential work.
Ravel Exhibition – Opening Concert
‘Complément d’objet’ – opening session.
Saturday 21 February – 10:00 am.
Opening at 11:00 am, followed by a reception.
‘Music is noise that thinks,’ said Victor Hugo. Yet there is no physical difference between sound and noise. The distinction between the two lies solely in the way each is perceived. So when does noise become music? And does the object that produces this noise become an instrument? To answer these questions, one could say that music is born in the ear of the listener, just as the instrument reveals itself in the expert hands of the player.
With L’Instant Donné: Caroline Cren, piano – Marion Tassou, soprano
After the concert, take the time to discover Ravel, Boléro – the Exhibition-Event as part of the Inaugural Open House. Boléro, with its crescendo of repetitions, is said to be played on average every 15 minutes around the world.
This figure is obviously unverifiable, but its popularity is undeniable: it is the most performed work in the world.
Boléro embodies almost all the characteristics of Ravel’s production and personality.

In the form of an exhibition dedicated to the radiant study of this work, the Philharmonie de Paris is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth and presenting a kaleidoscopic portrait of the artist.
The exhibition offers a striking audiovisual experience, while bringing together heritage objects from the most prestigious French collections, notably from Ravel’s house museum in Montfort-l’Amaury, where Boléro was composed.
Opening reception open to all on Saturday, 21 February, 7:30 p.m.
with the participation of the Agde School of Music and Arts
