REVEL
On Sunday 21 December at 8.30pm, Les Zallucinés will be showing Réné Laloux’s La planète sauvage by Topoer and René Laloux. An animated science fiction film released in 1973.
The evening will end with a chat over mulled wine!
It took four long years of work in Czech studios to bring this masterpiece of 1970s animation to life, with unforgettable drawings by Topor and Laloux. With a graphic style that is both complex and refined, La Planète sauvage (1973) offers astonishingly clear animated images, while telling an original story: the misadventures of the Oms people, enslaved by giant creatures.
Half a century after its release, this science-fiction feature has lost none of its force and remains a major work of French animation. More than a film, it is a philosophical fable, combining revolt and the quest for freedom.
Warning: La Planète sauvage is not really intended for young children (aged 11 and over). But it left its mark on cinema history, deservedly winning the Special Jury Prize at Cannes, thanks to a unique paper-cut technique that continues to fascinate animation fans.
