TOULOUSE
A selection of almost 90 films: 3 competitions, new discoveries, focus films, repeat screenings, films for young audiences, panorama of associations, etc. Nearly 100 meetings with guest filmmakers in Toulouse cinemas, and 46 evening debates with partner associations and organisations.
This year, the festival explores the abundant wealth of Mexican cinema through a cross-generational panorama. In the spotlight: Bertha Navarro, the emblematic producer and historic figure of independent cinema, alongside the young filmmakers of Colectivo Colmena, a daring collective that is reinventing creative and production methods. Bertha Navarro’s exceptional career spans more than half a century of cinema history, from the revolutionary upheavals of 1968 to the emergence of seminal works. As a mirror image, the Focus invites curiosity and a collective impulse, where new ways of making cinema are being invented today. Reduced to ten films this year, the programme is no less demanding, committed and deeply meaningful: each work has its place.
Like last year, the ‘Barrio Cinélatino’ festival village is taking over the courtyard of the ENSAV-CROUS and opening its doors to you. From Friday onwards, it’s ten days of excitement and sharing: creative workshops, tapas aperitifs, inspiring encounters, a living bookshop and concerts to punctuate the days and extend the evenings.
