LES CAMMAZES
From 22 to 24 May, the Parc du Haut Languedoc is putting the spotlight on pastoralism, highlighting the breeders, their stories and the landscapes that shape their products. We’re partnering this year as a showcase for local produce… That’s why Sylvain is launching into a very local dish: FRESINAT! (A pork stew with garlic and onions, traditionally served the day after the pig is slaughtered to feed friends and neighbours who have come to help… A Tarn dish that strengthens social ties….!!!)
From 8pm: FRESINAT + Dessert (€18) by reservation on 05 63 98 32 48
From 9pm: DIK BANOVICH, Acoustic Roots & Blues. Come and enjoy an international artist based in Brittany, who’s stopping off for a music break here! What a treat!
Growing up in Chicago in the 1960s, Dik Banovich was deeply influenced by blues, swing and various American guitar styles. His playing brilliantly combines the traditional and contemporary aspects of fingerstyle blues, offering a vibrant and dynamic picking technique.
For five decades, Dik has performed his unique blend of acoustic roots and blues on some of Europe’s finest stages, festivals and clubs across the UK and Europe, most recently touring Spain, Portugal, Croatia, Estonia and Finland, and of course France where he lives.
Dik combines traditional blues, swing, ragtime and Americana with a modern sensibility. His style is rooted in traditional acoustic blues, drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of the Delta, while incorporating elements of American folk blues and a touch of his Celtic roots.
Dik’s shows are intimate and captivating, blending stories and songs that reflect both the history of the blues and his own life experiences. He often touches on the origins and social context of the blues, underlining its emotional depth and relevance.
Dik is renowned for his mastery of the acoustic guitar, particularly fingerstyle and slide techniques. His music draws inspiration from blues legends such as Big Bill Broonzy, Lightning Hopkins and Brownie McGhee, as well as British folk guitarists such as John Renbourn and Wizz Jones. Having an Irish mother and having lived for many years in Scotland, where he came into contact with Scottish musicians of all kinds and took part in concerts and festivals throughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, his playing was profoundly influenced. His performances are renowned for their authenticity, warmth and a stripped-back, authentic approach that highlights his personal history of the blues and its tradition.
