TOULOUSE
The Musique des Parachutistes is a wind band made up exclusively of wind instruments (oboe, English horn, bassoons, flutes, clarinets, saxophones, euphonium, tuba, trumpets, French horns and trombones) and percussion. It has around 50 professional musicians, led by captain Mathieu LARRIEU and his deputy lieutenant Mathieu MEYER.
In addition to this large band, there are several smaller, specialist ensembles, two of which will be performing at the Candlelight Concert. These include the Wind Quintet and the Brass Quintet, two leading chamber music ensembles. These two groups seek to make classical music accessible through an original repertoire, from Mozart to Ligeti, from popular French songs to the mambo…!
For this evening, two journeys are on offer: the wind 5te takes you on a tour of twentieth-century composers such as FARKAS, RAVEL and DEBUSSY, then the brassy 5te takes you on a journey through music with Latin, jazzy but also very classical sounds, ending on the wind of French chanson. L.AMSTRONG, TCHAIKOWSKY, PIAF, STRAUSS, MARQUEZ.
