TOULOUSE
The Orchestre du Capitole pays tribute to this vibrant melting pot by presenting these students with a Franco-American programme characterised by cultural fusion. Ravel skilfully blended a variety of influences, including jazz and Spanish music, as illustrated by his formidable Concerto for the Left Hand and the Boléro, whose haunting rhythm has captivated the world. Copland, composer of *Appalachian Spring*, was one of the founding fathers of 20th-century American music. Alongside conductor Bar Avni, winner of the La Maestra competition in 2024, is pianist Bertrand Chamayou, a former student at the Toulouse Conservatoire and now an international soloist.
