Following the publication of the book Dom Robert, moine et artiste (Dom Robert, monk and artist), the author, Sophie Guérin Gasc, will be on hand to present her latest research on the artist, to whom she has been devoting herself for over 20 years. In parallel with her research work, supported by En Calcat Abbey and the Association Dom Robert, she has helped to set up the Musée Dom Robert and run it until 2023.
Sophie Guérin Gasc will retrace the exceptional dual life, religious and artistic, of Dom Robert (1907-1997), portraying a strong-willed and endearing character, sensitive and full of humour, while shedding light on an abundant body of work with a dazzling palette, reflecting a keen observation of nature. Drawing on extensive documentary and iconographic research, the author paints a portrait of this monk-artist and brings to light the echoes of bygone eras.
