BEZIERS
Son of stonemason Antoine Injalbert, Jean-Antoine, known as Antonin, started out as a laborer before entering the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1865. His talent was rewarded in 1874 with the Premier Grand Prix de sculpture, which opened the doors to the Académie de France in Rome, where he stayed until 1879, a decisive period in his style and career.
