Description

Jean-Michel Péchiné, the exhibition’s curator, takes you on a journey through the history of chess, from India to the Americas via the Middle East, with many twists and turns along the way.
The exhibition ‘The Odyssey of Chess’ takes you on a journey from India to the Americas, via the Middle East, through a selection of exceptional pieces dating from the Middle Ages to the present day. Jean-Michel Péchiné, the exhibition’s curator, has personally assembled these pieces to highlight the rich history of chess.

Author of the book *Les Echecs, rois des jeux, jeux des rois* (*Chess: King of Games, Game of Kings*), Jean-Michel Péchiné is a widely recognised figure in the chess world. A historian and journalist, he has been editorial adviser to the magazine *Europe Echecs* since 2002 and was even appointed Press Officer for the 43rd Chess Olympiad in Batumi in 2018. His dedication, his research and his numerous interviews have made him a living memory of the chess world.
