Lecture: The waters of the Montagne Noire – the cornerstone of the Canal du Midi

AGDE

Description

Exhibition to mark the 30th anniversary of the Canal du Midi’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Lecture by Gérard Crevon.

To operate a navigable canal spanning two catchment areas, such as the Canal du Midi, a great deal of water is required.
Riquet’s stroke of genius was realising that there was plenty of water in the Montagne Noire, provided one knew where to draw it from.
This is what the speaker aims to help you discover.
