Embark on a unique experience along the mythical Canal du Midi, between Colombiers and the famous Malpas Tunnel.
Aboard the Barque des Échos, let yourself be guided by a storyteller who becomes the guiding thread of a timeless journey. The banks of the canal come alive with the slow rhythm of navigation, as characters from bygone eras, scenes of life, songs and stories emerge before your very eyes, immersing you in centuries of history.
From Pierre-Paul Riquet?s construction of the canal to the tales of washerwomen, fishermen, revolutionaries and illustrious travelers such as Thomas Jefferson, this immersive stroll blends theater, heritage and poetry.
An original creation
The show was conceived and written by Céline Delporte, an animator at the Office de Tourisme La Domitienne.
The story is told by storyteller Philippe Charleux, accompanied by extras from the L?Iris Noir company from Nissan-lez-Enserune, portraying emblematic characters from the canal (washerwomen, fishermen, historical figures, etc.).
Navigation is provided by the Cap au Sud company, aboard the famous gabarre La Capitane.
