The Négra lock will host another edition of “Déjeuner sur l’Herbe”, an unmissable event celebrating the Canal du Midi, which this year marks the 30th anniversary of its inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Whether you’re a heritage enthusiast, a music lover or simply looking for a day out with family or friends, “Déjeuner sur l’Herbe” is the perfect opportunity to discover or rediscover one of the most beautiful sites in our region.

On the programme:
Saturday 19 September:
– 4.00 pm: Guided tour of the village with Lauragais Tourisme – meet in front of the town hall
– 5.00 pm: Guided tour of the Negra lock with Lauragais Tourisme – meet in front of the lock.
– 6.00 pm: Trio à bicyclette
– 8.00 pm: Small lock ball with the Briqu’à Brass band. A retro ‘Briqu’à Brass’ dance, to dance in a warm and festive atmosphere.
Sunday 20 September:
– 10.00 am: Storytelling walk between the Negra lock and the En Serny bridge with Aimé Phiores. Free coffee for participants. Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes.
All day: giant Game of the Goose on the Canal du Midi
Art exhibitions: Isabelle Caron, Myriam Galinier, Serge Grélin, Armony Mo, Marie-José Maleville, Christine Thomas.
– 11.30 am: Classical viola concert at the Negra Chapel.
– 12 noon: Aperitif concert featuring French chansons with Rachel Joseph
– 2.00 pm: Yéyé dance, with the Briqu’à Brass orchestra and Rachel Joseph
Catering available on site. Home-cooked savoury and sweet dishes.
