Having stumbled upon the Folio reissue of the interviews between Marguerite Duras and François Mitterrand, Corinne Mariotto and Denis Rey felt compelled to bring the power of these texts to life on stage. After considering a staged production, they opted for a theatrical reading of the text alone, capturing the wit and hesitations of the dialogue, and above all the unique partnership between Duras and Mitterrand. They drew on a verbatim audio transcript, which recreates the overlapping speech, the laughter and the depth of their reasoning.
