BALARUC-LES-BAINS
Using architectural forms evocative of ancient sites, this exhibition by Robert Lobet offers a poetic meditation on books and libraries. The many drawings made during his travels evolve in the studio through engraving, painting and artist?s book editions. In these works, conceived using ancient printing techniques, the works resonate with the texts of contemporary poets, while the series of handwritten leaves materializes the encounter with the authors on an original engraving, freely inscribing the calligraphic words on the paper. The book is present in painting, with the Bibliothèques series, or takes up residence in the Maisons de livres, frail refuges of wood and paper in the face of human folly. Voyages en Alexandrie (Poèmes de Bruno Doucey), published by the Atelier du Livre d?Art et de l?Estampe de l?Imprimerie Nationale, is the culmination of a cycle of work in Egypt. It presents the research of an artist and a poet, brought together in a work produced by a team of exceptionally skilled art printers.Access subject to normal admission conditions.Opening on Sept. 20 at 11:30 a.m. on the occasion of the European Heritage Days.
