In 2026, the Convivencia Festival will be celebrating its 30th anniversary, as well as the fact that the Canal du Midi has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The deck of a 30-metre-long barge will be transformed into a floating stage, and will cruise the canals of the Midi for almost 400 km over 3 weeks, meeting the public. At each stop, the public can enjoy the concerts from the banks of the canal. It’s a unique artistic experience, bringing together over 15,000 festival-goers and mobilising over a hundred volunteers, as well as almost a hundred partners: local authorities, economic players, tourists and associations.
An evening of concerts – A programme of world music – Concerts free and open to all – Particular attention paid to the installation of the river banks in a festive and fluvial atmosphere, with a great diversity of partners (SOS Méditerranée stands, catering, travelling bookshop, silk-screen printing, etc.).
– Development of a multi-annual EAC pathway, culture-disability: project with ASEI
(including the Château St-Jean establishment in Lux) and Toulouse artist Gérald Toto.
Presentation of aquatic vocal brigades with young people and adults with
with disabilities. During the day, a “waterside” programme to live the Convivencia experience
– Unusual walks or cycle rides: discover the Canal du Midi and the local heritage in partnership
in partnership with the Tourist Office, punctuated by artistic performances and/or
and/or talks by specialists. In 2026, the theme of the festival is “Water in all its
states”. This could be the theme of the walk.
– Radio Convivencia: a radio studio set up on the concert site, hosted by
young people from the Haute-Garonne department with Radio.Com-Unik and VNF – Voies
navigables de France. Interviews with artists, discovery of trades and promotion of local
local heritage.
– Wine tourism & local cuisine: tastings, seasonal catering and local wines in partnership
with the Maison du Vin et du tourisme de Fronton, Papilles Sauvages and local
and local producers.
– Civic involvement: intergenerational mobilisation of volunteers, with or without a disability
disability, local associations (senior citizens’ club, etc.) and inter-communal services
(youth, etc.) to strengthen collective involvement.
