Timidité des Arbres (La Maison Tellier) was formed in 2004 on the initiative of brothers Raoul and Helmut Tellier, musicians passionate about country, folk, and blues, which they sought to adapt to the style of Maupassant, author of a 1881 collection of short stories of the same name. In October 2007, La Maison Tellier released their second album, titled *Second Souffle*. In July, the band opened for Alain Bashung’s concerts at L’Olympia. In 2026, with this eighth album, the Normandy-based band continues to explore the unfathomable beauty of %being alive, the unbridled joy of never having failed to keep their promise: to make the music they love, to love the music they make—an album celebrating their love of folk music —from the Tex-Mex mariachis of Calexico to the misty ballads of Shane McGowan, via the blazing dust of Ali Farka Touré—and their love for humanity, even when people act like fools.
