TOULOUSE
He created four symphonies in just 10 years, each bearing the hallmark of his distinctive style. These works, all in the purest Romantic spirit, invite us to explore the depths of his feelings and creativity. Today, we have the chance to listen to this orchestral adventure conducted by Frank Beermann, who offers us a unique reading, divided into two evenings, in the chronological order of their composition – a choice that allows us to follow Schumann in his evolution, from the celebration of Spring to that of the Rhine, the sacred river that so inspired the composer. This powerful river was the scene of a moment of delirium in 1854, when Schumann was swept away by his emotions and plunged into its waters.
