Joana Vasconcelos, a Portuguese visual artist born in 1971, explores the themes of femininity and craftsmanship, often using materials derived from the textile industry.
She exaggerates femininity in order to better expose its clichés, puts myths and reality into perspective, and creates numerous satirical reworkings, playing with elegance as if it were a Venetian mask.
