TOULOUSE

Description

The Pink City is lit up with a thousand lights, and the squares in the city centre and the heart of the neighbourhoods are adorned with 84 5-metre cone-shaped Christmas trees, decorated in shades of gold and red. More than 400 designs adorn the main streets leading into the city centre: the Faubourg Bonnefoy, the avenues Étienne Billières, Jean Rieux, des Minimes, Jules-Julien, de Grande-Bretagne, des États-Unis… And of course the decorations on a number of emblematic sites!

Want to make the most of the Christmas lights in Toulouse? Here are a few ideas for walks around the city! Rue de Metz stands out with its illuminated crossings adorned with golden baubles, floor projections and two 3D sets, including a Teddy bear at Les Augustins. Rue d’Alsace-Lorraine features an 800-metre long illuminated ceiling adorned with fir trees and lanterns. Between the Place Esquirol and the Place des Carmes, you can admire the star pearls and then the Perseids. Finally, the Place Wilson showcases the Goudouli fountain with its luminous arches, which are entirely recyclable.

The illuminated Christmas trees: a few must-sees!
At the heart of the Allées Jean-Jaurès, a giant 20-metre Christmas tree dominates the Ramblas. Made up of a steel structure and 385 small trees grown just for the occasion, it sparkles with 1.6 km of garlands of lights. In the city centre, six synthetic polyethylene trees, almost 90% recyclable, recreate the appearance of natural trees. The largest, 12 metres high, is in the Cardinal Saliège park, near Saint-Étienne cathedral. The other five, 8 metres high, embellish the Place de la Trinité, Place Jeanne-d’Arc, Place Saint-Georges, Place Dupuy and the forecourt of the Basilica of Saint-Sernin.

It’s the perfect opportunity for the whole family to take a stroll through the city of gold and light!
