JOURNÉES DU PATRIMOINE AU COUVENT DES JACOBINS

TOULOUSE

Description

A jewel of medieval art with a rich and eventful history, and a testament to the life of the Dominican friars, the Jacobins Convent is also a cultural venue with a varied programme of events.

This weekend, it’s opening its doors to you!

Discover the Jacobins Convent through its ‘flash tours’: in just 15 minutes, explore its iconic spaces and marvel at the richness of their architecture and the beauty of their décor. The church, with tours at 10.30 am, 11.30 am, 3 pm, 4 pm and 5.45 pm, reveals the history and secrets of Southern Gothic architecture. The Saint-Antonin Chapel, at 11.00, 12.00, 15.30, 16.30 and 18.00, invites you to immerse yourself in the world of the murals and their iconography. Finally, the restoration work, at 10.45 am, 11.45 am, 3.15 pm, 4.15 pm and 5.30 pm, will hold no more secrets for you.

Throughout the day, from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm, families are invited to enjoy some fun with medieval games: game boards inspired by the Middle Ages, suitable for ages 10 and over, to delight young and old alike.

Finally, heritage enthusiasts can attend talks on restoration. Conservators and specialists will reveal their meticulous work on the convent’s paintings, frames and gold and silverware through short presentations lasting 10 to 20 minutes and more in-depth talks lasting 30 to 40 minutes.
