KINOPOLSKA

TOULOUSE

Description

This year, it presents some of the best Polish films of the past year, including war films, fascinating biopics and animated films for children.

In collaboration with traditional partner cinemas ABC, American Cosmograph and Utopia Tournefeuille, the festival offers an eclectic programme. Some of the eight feature-length films, for adults and young audiences, will feature commentary by our guests, directors, actors and researchers, making them real highlights of the festival, as will the Minikino matinee, dedicated to children, with creative workshops and entertainment.

In more detail, the festival opens at the American Cosmograph with Marcin Koszałka’s White Courage, which tackles the little-known subject of Goralenvolk during the Second World War. It continues at the ABC cinema with Agnieszka Holland’s Franz, a biopic devoted to Kafka and a Polish candidate for the 2026 Oscars.

The day at Utopia Tournefeuille highlights environmental preservation around the film Simona Kossak, followed by discussions with specialists and preceded by a slide show on the Białowieża Forest. Back at the ABC, two films centred on heroines, The Loss of Balance and Wet Monday are shown, the latter followed by a discussion with the lead actress.

The festival comes to a close on Saturday 22 at Utopia with the Minikino matinee reserved for children from the Polinka school, followed by the screening of Kulej, les deux faces de la médaille, a biopic about Olympic boxer Jerzy Kulej set against the political backdrop of 1960s Poland.
