LA BELLE ÉPOQUE EN DANSANT

TOULOUSE

Description

Immerse yourself in the world of Belle Époque balls at the heart of the exhibition *Bal au Grand Hôtel: Entertainment in Toulouse during the ‘Belle Époque’!* In the faithfully recreated ballroom, discover the dances that set the pace for leisure and social life in Toulouse at the start of the 20th century.

The waltz, the quadrille, the French mazurka, the French Cancan… Dancers in period costume offer a lively and entertaining demonstration of the era’s most famous dances. Steps, postures, etiquette and the context in which they were performed: this activity offers a deeper understanding of what these dances reveal about society and the new forms of entertainment during the “Belle Époque”.

A chance to chat with the dancers also allows you to ask questions and explore this discovery in greater depth. An event open to all, included in the exhibition admission ticket, offering a chance to step back in time and discover Toulouse’s balls in a new light. An event organised by Carnet de Bals, an association specialising in historical dance, which brings choreographic practices and traditions back to life.
