LA RENAISSANCE EN PERSPECTIVE

TOULOUSE

Description

This tour, comprising one hour in the city and one hour at the museum, gives you access to the Bemberg Collection, which boasts works by great masters of art such as Veronese and Bonnard.

First, take a stroll through the St Rome district. Following the catastrophic fire of 1463, the city was rebuilt as its economy flourished. Pastel dyers and senior magistrates of the Royal Parliament commissioned the construction of mansions in keeping with the humanist movement sweeping across Europe.

Enjoy exclusive access to the Hôtel de Bernuy and discover other hidden courtyards from the 16th century, all the way to the Hôtel d’Assézat. There, step inside the heart of the building to admire the masterpieces hidden within. Here you are at the Bemberg Collection!

Georges Bemberg died in Paris in 2011 at the age of 96. Born into a family of German industrialists who settled in Argentina in the 19th century, Georges was an art lover. He built up a collection of artworks from the age of twenty until his death. G. Bemberg thus acquired hundreds of paintings, furniture and decorative objects, guided solely by the pure emotion he felt when viewing the works. The guide introduces you to a selection of pieces, including Venetian views by Guardi, courtly portraits by Elisabeth Vigée-Lebrun and Impressionist masterpieces by Caillebotte and Berthe Morisot…
