The Théâtre de Poche’s Review:

The theater has this wonderful power: to make someone who never existed unforgettable.

Avignon Off—July 16, 2026

Even after so many years of programming, certain titles still conjure up preconceived notions in our minds: perhaps too serious, too intellectual? Sometimes a far cry from what the show actually has in store for us.
This show has managed to defy those preconceptions with great intelligence, rare delicacy, and inventiveness.

What if Shakespeare had had a sister?
A sister just as brilliant, adventurous, and rebellious as he was. Virginia Woolf invented her: Judith Shakespeare.
She finally takes the stage, with her desires, her anger, her humor, and all the barriers that stand in her way.

Combining song, mime, dance, puppetry, and interaction with the audience, this playful and poetic play explores the creative conditions faced by women artists throughout the centuries, right up to the present day. What remains of all the missing pages of history?

Press excerpts: “There are gems one would regret having missed…” L’Oeil d’Olivier — “A remarkable production embodied by a duo brimming with lucidity, humor, and emotion”—Arts Mouvants
