TOULOUSE
“Laisse Béton” invites us to question the place accorded to artists in our society.
Bringing together four major artists on the contemporary scene, all from our region – Nicolas Daubanes, Jean Denant, Rémi Groussin and Lucie Laflorentie – the exhibition explores the many dimensions of concrete: raw, poetic, economic, ecological and political.
With its title, a reference to Renaud’s cult song and the fragile status of visual artists, “Laisse Béton” sends out a message that is both symbolic and militant. The artists’ works respond to and confront each other, blending nature, architecture, urban memory and collective history, while affirming the vitality and excellence of Toulouse’s artistic scene.
