TOULOUSE
Synopsis:
The story of Sophie, a young, insecure milliner who is turned into an old woman by a jealous witch. Her only chance of breaking the spell lies with a selfish young wizard who lives in an extraordinary moving castle. Probably the craziest, densest, most complex yet also the clearest film by the Japanese magician Hayao Miyazaki, who here adapts Diana Wynne Jones’s novel *Howl’s Moving Castle* very freely. An ecological and anti-war tale about appearances, pretence and masks, but also about youth and beauty.
Hayao Miyazaki, 2004. Japan. 119 mins. Colour. DCP. Original version with French subtitles.
