Les Z’allucinés will be opening the new year with a focus on emotion and auteur cinema. On Sunday 11 January at 8.30pm, come and see (again) Valerio Zurlini’s The Girl with the Suitcase, released in 1961. A masterpiece sublimated by the dazzling Claudia Cardinale.
Synopsis:
In an Italian village, an unscrupulous seducer drives off in his convertible and abandons his conquest, a young singer to whom he has promised marriage. To follow him, Aida has left behind her previous lover and her latest contract. So she sets off, suitcase in hand, to find him. It was Lorenzo, the playboy’s 16-year-old brother, who opened the door to the family’s austere home. Most of the time, he lives there alone, between bored studies and an icy guardian, his aunt. Dazzled by this penniless beauty, he wants to right the wrong done by his brother and starts by giving her his pocket money…
