TOULOUSE
Why is the audience no longer as boisterous and engaged as it once was? *Le Sacre des Profanes* answers some of these questions by examining the history of theatre actors and actresses through the lens of the changing social conditions they faced, the evolution of their profession, and the way society has treated them. More than just a historical panorama, the play seeks to (re)shed light on those – and especially those women – who have been rendered invisible or even erased, and to shift our perspective. For this story mirrors the broader history of the men and women of the past.
