Just before the end of the First World War in September 1918 in Lausanne, when L’Histoire du soldat (The Soldier’s Tale) was premiered – a text by Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz set to music by Igor Stravinsky – the situation suggested that this travelling show had a bright future ahead of it: Switzerland had been spared the Great War and everything
looked set for an immediate tour of the villages. But the invisible arrival of the Spanish flu, which would affect the members of the troupe one after the other with varying degrees of severity, would put an end to the adventure.
In this show, the incredible and the absurd come together joyfully, moving between Stravinsky’s original music and that written for the occasion by composer Tomàs Bordalejo. The show is constructed before the audience’s eyes, sharing with them the adventures of creation!
