CASTANET-TOLOSAN
Valencia’s Fallas are coming to Castanet. Veronica Palomares, a Fallas artist, will teach us the art of making ‘cartón-piedra’ figures. We will celebrate the event with our Spanish friends from Alboraya and the residents of Castanet who are keen to find out more about this world-famous festival.
Programme
11.00 am – Town Hall
\- Welcome for the Spanish delegation
\- Speeches by the mayors of Alboraya and Castanet-Tolosan
\- National anthem performed by the twinning committee’s choir
From 5.00 pm – Salle du Lac
5.00 pm – Official proceedings with the mayors
5.30 pm – ‘Merienda’ hosted by the municipality of Alboraya: a traditional Valencian afternoon snack with ‘furtons’ and ‘horchata’
6.00 pm – Deliberation by the jury to decide which of the four ‘ninots’ will be spared from burning
7.30 pm – Burning or ‘cremà’ of the ninots
8.00 pm – Fireworks
8.30 pm: Dinner
