GARDOUCH
*Welcome to Radio Sapin! Comfortably seated, you’ll be the privileged viewers and listeners of this programme devoted to death and dying in our society. On the programme: a specialist’s contribution to your (happy) funeral, reports, live guests and games. I promise, you’ll know everything there is to know about funeral ceremonies…
The members of Compagnie Mange ! take on the essential subject of the end of life to break taboos through absurdity and laughter, with the aim of making us happy mortals. And despite the title of this show, it will be time for an aperitif. And, as you may have guessed, there will be a few treats to share with the company after the show.
Mange! was born in 2020. It’s called Mange! because it’s a story about life’s appetites. Eating together creates a bond, it’s a way of sharing, just like in our artistic proposals. As our grandmothers used to say: “Mange, que tu fréquentes…!
In 2020, Mona Maire and Camille Meneï, co-artistic directors, began a cycle of research on the theme of funeral rituals and ceremonies, which will continue until 2026 under the name of Coopérative d’Imaginaires Funéraires.
The decision to tackle the theme of death stems from the fact that it is a taboo in Western society, and a question that has left our daily lives. “It’s in order to regain power over it that, on our own small scale, we decided to devote our energies and our artistic mediums to bringing this question back into the public arena.”
Please note: Café des Minotiers regularly hosts Apéros Mortels hosted by funeral adviser and celebrant Alix Howard. Although the aim of these events is also to get people talking and expressing their emotions on the subject of death, it’s not the same thing.
Ages 10 and up.
Duration: 1 hour (followed by sharing of sweets).
Drinks available at the Café des Minotiers.
