At Le Grenier, we are keen to give women a special place, particularly in the context of **International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women**, which takes place every 25 November in several countries around the world… so that things change, so that this stops!
### **Les Indomptables** by Valentina Viettro is a series of collages featuring winged women – women who no longer accept playing a secondary role in their own lives, women who fall, get back up and move forward.
Steeped in blood-red and the gold of transformation, they carry within them the violence of their wounds, but also the power of rebirth.
They fight to free themselves from the roles imposed upon them, to push beyond their limits and transcend whatever holds them back.
These women no longer seek to be saved.
They are transforming themselves.
They are breaking free.
They are becoming indomitable.

**Valentina Viettro** – 1982, Montevideo, Uruguay
She is a Uruguayan audiovisual artist and writer whose practice blends literature, collage and performance as realms of sensory exploration. Her work unfolds as a contemporary dialogue, imbued with a combative perspective that draws a subtle line between reality and fiction. Born in Uruguay, the granddaughter of Italian migrants, she has found in Marseille — her chosen home — a place to put down roots from which to build a multifaceted and constantly evolving artistic identity.
**Artistic Approach**
My work is deeply shaped by the experience of being a Latin American migrant in France, a condition that is not limited to geographical displacement, but which also constitutes a unique way of perceiving, interpreting and inhabiting the world. Migration involves a rupture, but also an expansion: a constant tension between languages, cultural codes and memories that overlap without ever fully resolving themselves. It is within this interstice that my practice is situated.
