SAINT-MARCEL-PAULEL
The Ficat workshop continues a Toulouse tradition of terracotta statuary. It was represented in the 19th century by the architects and sculptors Virebent on the land of Launaguet. The activity consists of (re)mass-producing sculptural works using a mould. Everything is done by hand: stamping in a mould, demoulding and retouching. Statues, ornamented vases, lions, fountains, fireplaces and architectural pieces in the 17th and 19th centuries are made in the traditional way. The pink, red and white terracotta is rigorously selected, and firing at high temperature (1150°C) guarantees longevity and frost resistance.
