TOULOUSE
Now in its 19th year, the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) Christmas market, organised by Unis Solidaires, is returning to the Allées Jules Guesde, opposite the Grand Rond, between the Jardin Royal and the Quai des Savoirs.
As you wander amongst the stalls, you’ll find local produce that respects both producers and the environment, as well as high-quality, innovative crafts made in France, whilst also supporting fair-trade initiatives in Asia, South America and Africa. (Artisans, jewellery, potters, cutlers, basket weavers, winemakers, syrups, herbalists, soap makers, textiles, floral art, paintings and art…).
Every day, the site comes alive with games, a friendly atmosphere and festivities, featuring large wooden games, welcoming spaces, as well as books, newspapers and events dedicated to the Social and Solidarity Economy. On Friday and Saturday evenings, late-night sessions running until 10 pm feature concerts, brass bands and other surprises. Creative workshops, open to young and old alike, also offer the chance to make gifts and decorations, and to take part in various artistic and musical activities.
You can also enjoy a bite to eat and warm up at the winter open-air café, the hub of conviviality. Beer, natural wines, non-alcoholic drinks and, of course… The traditional mulled wine! For meals, you’ll find local, gourmet and comforting cuisine on site, with a variety of delicious dishes.
The full programme of Christmas festivities can be found on the Toulouse City Council website.
