He is back with the Orchestre du Capitole to introduce the audience to a deeply personal work by the man who breathed new life into tango: *María de Buenos Aires*. Following a period of despondency, Piazzolla drew inspiration from the surrealist libretto by his friend Horacio Ferrer for this fascinating ‘operita’, in which popular music – notably tango – blends with classical music. William Sabatier has gone back to the source to reconstruct lost scenes and restore the work to its original form, thereby bringing it back to life after many twists and turns, just like its heroine.
