NUIT DES MUSÉES AUX ABATTOIRS

TOULOUSE

Description

For this year’s Nuit des Musées, the Abattoirs are once again opening the curtain on Pablo Picasso’s stage, a major work in their collections. Originally created in 1936 as a backdrop for Romain Rolland’s play “Le 14 juillet”, it was used as a set for other performances before being donated by the artist to the city of Toulouse in 1965 and becoming part of the museum’s collections.

To celebrate the occasion and this Museum Night, the Abattoirs are bringing this work back to life with drag performances echoing the “Listening to the Living” exhibition, in partnership with the Quai des savoirs.

There will also be workshops for children and adults to get their creative juices flowing. A unique exhibition is being prepared by artists hosted by the Be-art association.

Outside, a fashion show will feature works by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and other guest artists. Picture dresses come to life before your very eyes, accompanied by a DJ set.

A great evening in Toulouse!
