TOULOUSE
When it was founded in the 1st century, the city of Tolosa had one of its main entrances here, to the south, close to the Garonne. During the feudal period, and with the emergence of the County of Toulouse, the gateway to the rampart was redeveloped in response to invasions. It became an imposing castle, which disappeared during the Renaissance.
It was during this period that the kingdom of France, having annexed the county two centuries earlier, replaced the castle with sumptuous houses more suited to the administration of royal justice.
This exclusive tour takes you down to the ruins of one of the town’s greatest archaeological discoveries. Archaeologists spent almost ten years bringing to light 600 m2 of crypt. You will then discover the Grand Chamber, the oldest courtroom (1490), where republican justice is still administered today.
