Philippe Cornier, Spanish guitar

AGDE

Description

Through works by Torrega, Albéniz, Granados and others, the artist celebrates the richness of Iberian music and his 40 years on stage.
Saint-Étienne Cathedral in Agde is set to host a musical event of rare intensity.

The internationally renowned guitarist Philippe Cornier will be performing there in an exceptional recital entitled ‘Masterpieces of Spanish Guitar and Aranjuez’. This event is all the more symbolic as the artist is celebrating forty years on stage this year.

An exceptional guitarist with an impressive career, Philippe Cornier has performed across the globe, from Canterbury Cathedral to the Opéra Comédie in Montpellier, via Prague, Mexico City and the Church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris. Recognised by his peers, he has collaborated with leading cultural figures such as the journalist Laure Adler, the actor Philippe Caubère, the writer and bullfighter Alain Montcouquiol, and the painter Claude Viallat, who designed the cover of his latest album.
For this concert, he will celebrate all the richness, radiance and passion of Iberian music. Through the masterful works of Tárrega, Albéniz, Granados and Rodrigo, the musician will bring his strings to life with unique sensitivity and refinement. Far from theatrical showmanship, Philippe Cornier’s playing is characterised by a profound inner depth, where the power of his passion is directly reflected in the purity of his notes.

This poetic journey into the heart of Mediterranean emotions promises to offer the audience a timeless experience, in perfect harmony with the unique acoustics of our church. A major summer cultural event not to be missed.
