This concert highlights Weber, an emblematic figure of early German Romanticism and a virtuoso pianist who not only devised a Romantic sonata, but also went down in history for his remarkable operas, which paved the way for the typically Germanic Romantic grand opera. The programme, played entirely on historical instruments, features emblematic works for solo piano, his famous trio and the little-known cycle of patriotic Lieder.
