Ravel-Boléro Inaugural Open House

AGDE

Description

In partnership with the Philharmonie de Paris, the travelling exhibition ‘Ravel, Boléro’ presents this masterpiece of the modern repertoire at the heart of the music room.
A free spirit, Maurice Ravel stood out in his unique work through his unwavering perfectionism. Drawing inspiration from his passions, Spain, childhood poetry and even the machines that fascinated him, Ravel developed a unique and sensitive body of work. The creative process behind this musical monument in 1928 echoes the sumptuous decorative setting of the Music Room at Château Laurens, dating from the same year, where the exhibition is being held.

This exhibition-event also showcases the meeting of two fin-de-siècle dandy personalities, passionate, demanding and fascinated by the arts, modernity and technology.

Visual documents provide context for this key period in the composer’s career. The dialogue between Ravel’s work and the almost contemporary décor of the music room offers a sensitive and illuminating interpretation of his creation. The presentation is extended by the screening of Boléro on a panoramic screen, offering an immersive experience.

The music room becomes a reception area for the ‘Ravel, Boléro’ exhibition event.
