TOULOUSE
Rising Ape is a satirical show about our obsession with productivity. Being productive is supposedly a virtue: efficient, profitable, beneficial to society. But behind this promise lies another reality — constant pressure, and the toll that work takes on our bodies and minds. As a counterpoint, Rising Ape draws inspiration from speedrunning, a practice originating in video games where the aim is to complete a game as quickly as possible, by optimising every move, bending the rules and exploiting glitches. An absurd race for performance, taken to the extreme — yet collective and joyful. On stage, the Circus becomes Labour once more, and Labour a veritable Circus.
