On Saturday 6 December, from 8am to 1pm, a range of screening events will be held at the Salle du Conseil Municipal in Revel.
These events are aimed at adults and accompanied minors.
Kidney disease screening, organised by France Rein Occitanie
This screening is based on a simple urine test and a blood pressure reading, carried out in around 15 minutes, without taking any blood, by health professionals. It detects any abnormal kidney markers. If there are any abnormalities, referral to the patient’s GP is suggested. A nephrologist will be on hand to comment on the results.
Diabetes prevention, led by France Diabète Occitanie
Screening will be based on a drop of blood taken from the tip of the finger using a lancing device. Blood sugar levels will be measured using a special device. A dietician will also be on hand to offer nutritional advice.
Prevention of cardiovascular disease, run by Cœur d’Occitanie
In the presence of a nurse, this screening will involve taking blood pressure, measuring heart rate and completing a questionnaire drawn up by the Société Française de Cardiologie. At the end of the assessment, personalised recommendations will be made on the basis of the results.
