TOULOUSE
Inspired by Irish sessions and jam sessions, the COMDT is launching the ‘sesilhas’, informal acoustic get-togethers held on the first Friday of every month. Musicians come together to share and pass on, by heart, a repertoire of traditional Occitan music in a friendly atmosphere, where anyone can suggest a piece or chat between performances.
Open to COMDT pupils, students and musicians from Toulouse from all walks of life, these evenings aim to introduce participants to and help them learn this oral heritage, regardless of their level. Led by the centre’s teaching staff and librarian, the sessions begin with a presentation of audiovisual archives and are occasionally enriched by themed evenings focusing on specific instruments or guest artists.
