TOULOUSE
Come and discover this completely renewed and enlarged venue, with a new wing built under an arch on the Pont-Neuf, and enjoy this new exhibition.
The inaugural exhibition, devoted to Sophie Zénon, offers an immersion into the poetic and critical universe of this singular artist, who is inhabited by questions of memory, history and the passage of time. The place of memory, our relationship with forgetting, loss, absence and death, as well as exile and migration, are central themes.
Conceived as a journey through a body of work intimately linked to a life journey, the exhibition is divided into three chapters in three distinct spaces. The particular physiognomy of the site, with its circular spaces, inspired the artist to create a scenography that draws on the metaphor of the circle, evoking for her the cycle of life and death. The artist’s work resonates with works in Toulouse’s museums: Les Augustins, Saint-Raymond, Arts Précieux – Paul Dupuy, Les Abattoirs… in a fertile, dreamlike dialogue.
